Look, we need to talk. I love and support you and want nothing but the best for you, but things are really getting out of hand.
Your addiction to type-A perfectionist behaviour is ruining your life. The stress of constant comparison and chasing impossible goals will burn you out – mentally, emotionally, and physically. Your loved ones and family are concerned, and your striving behaviour leads to unhappiness and suffering that affect them, too.
Chronic stress associated with struggling to have it all contributes to a disruptive inflammatory cascade that slows your thyroid, throws off your digestion and sleep, wreaks havoc on your sex hormones, depresses your immune function, accelerates cognitive decline and more.
I see this time and time again in my practice as a naturopathic doctor. My patients come to me with fatigue, sleep issues, digestive disorders, hot flashes, infertility, and painful periods, addiction, skin complaints, anxiety, you name it. If stress isn’t the root cause in each case, it certainly has a significant role to play.
